As in the past, competitive dancers will have the flexibility to wear dancewear of their choice on weekends. This option is a privilege, and students are still expected to adhere to standard dancewear expectations on these days.  A leotard, tights, and a bun are required if one of your classes on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday is ballet! Acceptable tops include leotards, tight-fitting athletic crop tops, sports bras, tank tops, form-fitting T-shirts, or bodysuits/leotards. Acceptable bottoms include leggings, tight shorts, and ballet skirts.

Footwear:

  • Acro and conditioning: Bare feet
  • Jazz, musical theatre, and jumps & turns: Bloch ‘Spark’ in black
  • Tap: Capezio ‘Cadence’ (advanced older dancers may need to move to Bloch Jason Samuels Smith shoes, but these should only be purchased after the instructor recommends) in black
  • Lyrical and contemporary: Capezio ‘Hanami Pirouette’ (H064). Smaller dancers may use foot undeez instead. For class, students may wear footundeez, turners, bare feet, or contemporary socks. Dancers may also bring a short or long-sleeved t-shirt to wear over dancewear for floorwork in contemporary class.
  • Ballet: Capezio ‘Hanami’ Canvas Ballet Shoe (shoes must match tights or socks: pink with pink tights, skintone with skintone tights, or white with white socks). Leather shoes are acceptable for younger students (<10) for class, but pink canvas will be required for those who are competing in ballet.
  • Hip Hop: clean sneakers of any brand, solid white preferred. Dancers competing in hip hop may need to purchase specific brands, and can expect to use solid white.
